This article will outline the different scenarios that best fit top vent and back vent duct configurations, and which one to choose.
Applicable Models: Twister, Q2, Q5, Twister-Max, Hurricane, Luna
Scenario 1 - When to use Top Vent (or Top Exhaust)
- The ceiling height is at least 8 feet tall
- The duct with either go straight up to will turn directly out of the wall with a 90 degree duct elbow
Scenario 2 - When to use Back Vent (or Rear Exhaust)
- The unit is installed with a low ceiling, lower than 8 feet tall
- The only option is to have the duct exit positioned directly behind the range hood due to height limitations
What is Top Vent?
The top vent (or top exhaust) option means that the ducting will go either straight up and out of the roof, or up first before turning toward an exterior wall with a 90 degree duct elbow.
What is Back Vent/Rear Vent?
The back vent (or rear vent/exhaust) option means that the ducting opening will be directly behind the range hood and will vent out of the wall directly without any turns. This is best for cases where there is not enough room on top of the unit to use a duct elbow.
