When would you recommend a perimeter uptake over a full surface intake?
- Typically, the higher the installation the more you will want a perimeter suction over a full surface suction. The reason for this is that the further away the range hood is from the cooktop, the more steam, smell, and smoke is able to rise and expand. Perimeter suction is made to work better at higher distances.
What is the difference between Perimeter suction and full surface suction?
- Perimeter suction is created for the expansion of steam and smoke in mind so any steam that goes beside the range hood on its way up is still getting sucked in from the opening around the edges of the range hood. Full surface is created with being as close to the cooktop as possible in mind. Reason for this is because the center the range hood is completely open. At a distance of 30" if you have a 30" range hood above the cooktop the steam and smoke doesn't have time to expand and escape. It is a central point of suction.
What is the minimum and maximum distance a range hood should be installed above the cooktop?
- Typically if you own a induction or electric cooktop it is recommended to be installed anywhere between 24" to 30" above the cooktop. For a gas cooktop it is recommended to install 28" to 30" above the cooktop and for a BBQ range hood we recommend 36" above the cooktop to allow for the BBQ door to open and close freely. Please note, these values may change with the installation of a Flush ceiling range hood. Flush ceiling range hoods are recommended to install at 48" to 60" above the cooktop and are not meant to be used for a powerful gas cooktop capable of 100,000 BTU or a BBQ cooktop.
What product configurations are available?
- The variants of each range hood may depend on the range hood of interest. For example, our Sunset model range hood has the ability to top exhaust or side exhaust but can only use 6" ducting at a rate of 600 CFM in black matte, white matte, or stainless steel. Our Horizon model only has a top exhausting option with the ability to reach 900 CFM with 8" ducting in stainless steel, and matte white. Any variants of the range hood in question can be located on our website.
Can i order a range hood without the blower installed in the hood?
- This is possible to do. There is a note section before purchasing that you can request this to be done. However, depending how many orders we have coming through this method can be missed. It is highly recommended to contact us if you require this invoice to be created for you.
Will there be a discount if i purchase a range hood with the motor removed?
- Depending on the model, we might be able to provide a small discount for the removal of the blower. However, because the same amount of labour is required (sometimes more) when configuring a range hood without an internal blower, the price would typically remain the same.
Can the back of the range hood be modified to have the exhaust off center?
- No, custom work is limited in regards to modifications of our range hoods. If you require an offset, either the ducting hole will need to be relocated or alternatively, the use of flexible ducting can be utilized to get the range hood attached to the ducting hole. Please do not use flexible ducting for your entire ducting run or if possible don't use flexible ducting at all. We cannot guarantee optimal performance with flexible ducting.
What options do i have if i want the range hood to be fully flush to the ceiling?
- If the ceiling joists line up with the orientation of the stove, you can install one of our flush ceiling range hoods. If the joists run perpendicular to the orientation of your stove then the only options for a flush range hood are to re-frame and reinforce the joists or to build a drop box that comes down from the ceiling using drywall.
What installation types does victory range hoods assemble?
- The installation types that Victory range hoods can assemble are as follows on our website. Flush ceiling hoods, cabinet insert hoods, wall mounted hoods, under cabinet hoods, island hoods, and BBQ hoods.
Can I use a remote with my range hood?
